Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal
Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal is a Public Charitable Trust registered under the Societies Registration Act and Bombay Public Trust Act. From its humble beginnings in 1934, when it took over the Rashtriya Shala, a school established in 1921 in the wake of the National Movement, the Mandal today has grown into a big educational organization imparting high-level education to more than 35,000 students.
Over the past 80 years, the Mandal has developed a large educational complex in Vile Parle in Suburban Mumbai and has spread its wings to metro cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmadabad, Navi Mumbai, Indore, etc. SVKM today is proud of some of the finest educational institutes in the country like NMIMS deemed to be University, N.M. College of Commerce and Economics, Mithibai College, D.J. Sanghvi College of Engineering, and Bhagubhai Mafatlal Polytechnic to name a few. With a strong vision and passion for being the pioneers of the modern education system, all SVKM institutes are state of the art, with ever expanding facilities and infrastructure to foster innovation, and address pressing global challenges.
SVKM's NMIMS
What started with baby steps in 1981 as NMIMS, has today emerged as a globally reputed university. Always socially conscious, the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) made the decision to cater to the rising demand of management institutes in the country. This led to the birth of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). It began humbly by offering two-year full-time master's programme in management studies with 4 full time faculty, 3162 books and an intake of 40 students above Bhaidas Hall, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai.
Built on this inspiring legacy, today, NMIMS stands proud as a Deemed-to-be-University offering programs in multiple disciplines across multiple campuses. More than 17,000 students and about 750 full-time faculty members, including 10 faculty members with Fulbright Scholarship and Humboldt International Scholarship for post-doctoral researchers, are part of India's most sought after academic community.
NMIMS has transformed into a globalized centre of learning, providing its students a balanced exposure to research, academics and practical aspects of the industry. STME is founded in the year 2022 on the principles of imparting quality education to students and grooming them to be practitioners of what they are taught. The consistent academic quality, research focus, faculty from top national and global institutes and strong industry linkages at STME has placed it amongst the nation's prime centres of educational excellence and research today.
It comprises of Under-Graduate programs B. Tech in Computer Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science), which focus on creating the technically sound, moral in character and owing to the ever-changing demands of the industry. STME also provides numerous online platforms for the students to enhance their skill set through tie-ups with Coursera, IBM, and other leading MOOC platforms.
